I have been taking photos for many years but particularly in the last few years i’ve focused my attention on Falconry and Birds of Prey. I use canon camera’s and lenses, my favourite combination has been the canon eos1d series with the 70-200 zoom, i also use the 300mm F4 as it gives me that extra reach, but i find most of the time the 70-200 is enough and the AF is quicker which i rely heavily on as i’m usually working with a falconry glove on my left hand, this year i bought a Lowepro toploader pro 70 which is fantastic, quick to access, incredibly well made and weather proof for when the weather changes as it frequently does.
I have a female Harris Hawk called Arwen who hatched in 2005, she is a confident hunter and good all round hawk, she is currently in a breeding chamber busy rearing her first brood. I also have my pet Barn Owl, Scar who likes to sit in the corner of his aviary all day then keep everyone awake all night but thankfully we’ve got understanding neighbours. And finally my latest acquisition Willow, who is a Finnish Goshawk, bred by Mick Kane at M&J Raptors, she is awesome flying at nearly 3 pounds she has taken Rabbit, Pheasant, Partridge, Hare and Pigeon this season.
